Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 5, 2019 Journalists Share Posted February 5, 2019 The fiber-sand track at Pau Racecourse, the first all-weather track ever laid in France back in 2000, will be completely renovated in 2019, France Galop announced on Tuesday. The €4-million project will take four months to complete from May of this year to October. France Galop President Edouard de Rothschild, Pau Mayor Francois Bayrou and SEPA President Jean-Louis Foursans-Bourdette, who is president of the racecourse and the neighboring Sers training center, met in Boulogne-Billancourt and agreed on the joint project. The course at Pau will also be redrawn, allowing flat races to be run year round. As a result, Pau will offer an extended racing season this year with two additional meetings, one on Mar. 30 utilizing the old surface, and an Oct. 26 meeting over the new strip, bringing the total scheduled races this year to 76. “The fiber-sand track (PSF) of Pau was laid 19 years ago at the initiative of François Bayrou,” said Foursans-Bourdette. “It became necessary to start over to allow it to be at the top level of a technology that has evolved. Each regional racing Federation has a fiber sand track. The South-West relies on our track, so it will be ready to welcome the future of racing in the region.” View the full article
