Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 8, 2019 Journalists Share Posted February 8, 2019 The stakes schedule for the 48-day Belmont Park spring/summer meet will feature 59 total stakes races worth $18.4 million. The meet, which runs from Friday, April 26 through Sunday, July 7, will be highlighted by the three-day Belmont S. Racing Festival June 6 through June 8. Belmont day will once again feature nine graded stakes, eight of which are Grade Is. The Man o’ War Racing Festival set for May 11 boasts five stakes, including four graded events, led by the $700,000 GI Man o’ War S. New York-breds take the spotlight May 27 for Big Apple Showcase Day. The card features six stakes worth $900,000 for horses bred in the Empire State led by the $200,000 Commentator S. The Stars & Stripes Racing Festival will be contested over three days beginning Thursday, July 4 and concluding Saturday, July 6 with five graded events. The packed card will include the GI Belmont Derby, GI Belmont Oaks, the GII Suburban H., the GIII Dwyer S. and the GII John A. Nerud S., formerly the Belmont Sprint Championship.
