Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted 6 hours ago Journalists Posted 6 hours ago The Irish National Stud has reported interest among breeders in newbie stallion Arizona Blaze to be “very strong” and revealed that Amo Racing, whose colours the horse carried to Group 1 glory, will be sending up to 45 mares to the young stallion in his debut season. A tough and classy sprinter, Arizona Blaze landed the Group 1 Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh last season. That was the sixth win of his glittering career that saw him amass close to €1m in prize-money. All six of those wins were achieved over sprint distances. However, according to the Irish National Stud's director of bloodstock and sales, Gary Swift, the four-year-old is built like a miler and is a standout “macho” individual. Swift said, “He walks like a miler but has the speed so, from a breeders' point of view, people who are trying to breed a nice and athletic horse, I think he will hit that bracket perfectly. This horse has 17 runs under his belt – 15 wins and places – and I suppose that is a testimony to his durability, soundness in mind and body. He was a very impressive horse and his race record sets that out very clearly.” On his career highlight, Swift added, “The Flying Five is a big scalp for any horse to take. To do it at the Curragh and then retire to stud two or three miles down the road, he is a big addition. Good horses have done that [won the Flying Five] down through the years. Havana Grey did it. Dare I say it, but it is a stallion-making race. All the big European horses turn up for it and, the manner of his success, it speaks to the horse's durability and turn of foot. That blistering turn of foot to travel off a quick pace and find another gear or two, they don't all have that.” Arizona Blaze was trained by Adrian Murray. Along with that Group 1 triumph at the Curragh, he made a winning debut in the opening maiden of the year during his juvenile campaign at that track, highlighting his durability and soundness. All told, he won four times at the Curragh, including at Group 2 and Group 3 level. His fee has been set at €12,500 for 2026. Swift concluded, “There are 40 to 45 mares coming from Amo Racing and then we will add 15 of our own mares to that. So he is starting off with a great chance. It has been an amazing bounce for us to get Amo Racing on board and I think it will be a reciprocal relationship. We have a profile of doing things correctly so hopefully we're on a roll with them.” The post Irish National Stud Reports “Very Strong” Interest From Breeders In Arizona Blaze appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
