Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 1, 2019 Journalists Share Posted March 1, 2019 Mont-de-Marsan-based trainer Antoine de Watrigant has reported a case of EHV-4 in his yard, Jour de Galop reports. “A young 2-year-old who just arrived at the stable is suffering from the respiratory form of the disease [EHV-4],” de Watrigant told JDG. “We tested the whole stable Thursday morning and I’m waiting for the results. “We took temperatures every morning and evening and we saw that the more behind 2-year-olds, and therefore surely those more fragile than the others, had a fever,” he addd. “Having already experienced two bouts of rhinopneumonia, I immediately took some pretty radical steps. All of my horses are currently confined to the stable. Those who aren’t sick will eventually come out starting on Monday, only walking, and in the afternoon so as not to come across other horses. “All of my clients are warned that their horses will not run in March. All my horses are vaccinated twice a year for rhinopneumonia, even though France Galop doesn’t require it. I wanted to communicate this because if my neighbor had been in the same situation I would have wanted him to do so. It’s in everyone’s best interest. For me, it’s a tough blow because my first starters were going to run on Saturday. I hope I will be rewarded later in the season for these precautions.” View the full article
