Follow the Foals, a three-year digital content series focusing on eight foals born this spring at Tweenhills Farm, was launched by Ascot and official partner QIPCO on Tuesday. The objective of the series is to showcase the journey of the octet from birth to becoming a racehorse and the people behind the scenes that make that happen. The eight foals are as follows:

  • bay colt (Frankel {GB}-Simple Verse {Ire})
  • bay filly (Dark Angel {Ire}-La Rioja {GB})
  • bay filly (Havana Gold {Ire}-Stroll Patrol {GB})
  • bay filly (Churchill {Ire}-Wind Fire)
  • chestnut colt (Dubawi {Ire}-Wekeela {Fr})
  • brown filly (Deep Impact {Jpn}-Lightening Pearl {Ire})
  • bay filly (Galileo {Ire}-Just The Judge {Ire})
  • chestnut colt (Frankel {GB}-Heartless {GB})

The series will be filmed on location in Gloucestershire at Tweenhills, home of the Qatar Racing stallions, by Equine Productions, with exclusive access and interviews with the team at Tweenhills. Ascot’s digital, broadcast and content tem will edit the content and it will be released across all of Ascot’s channels with quarterly updates on the progress of the foals.

“All eight foals were born at Tweenhills and we are excited to share their journeys,” said Tweenhills Farm Stud Manager David Redvers. “It will be interesting to watch and learn how each foal progresses by following their stories from the moment they are born. There is no guaranteed formula in horse racing. I cannot say for sure that all these foals will race in the claret Qatar Racing silks in the future; some may go to the sales and some may not make the racecourse at all. They are living creatures, not machines, and that is what makes this sport so unique.

“The strength and quality of Qatar Racing bloodstock continues to grow. Sheikh Fahad is passionate about all his horses but there is always something that little more special when you have a winning homebred. A horse that you have nurtured and followed from the very beginning. Fingers crossed we are looking at some future winners and perhaps even a Royal Ascot winner.”

Added Ascot Racecourse Chief Commercial Officer Juliet Slot, “This is a really exciting project and we can’t wait to follow the foals’ progress. We are delighted to be able to work with our partners, QIPCO, in such an innovative way and we hope this will give a real insight into how a racehorse begins its life, something that has not been done before.”
