Highclere Thoroughbred Racing’s bay looked a filly going places when taking the G3 Prix de Conde by three lengths at Chantilly in October, but faces a race-fit rival in Takaya Shimakawa’s much-improved Tosen Gift (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}). She sprang a surprise when winning the Listed Prix Rose de Mai by eight lengths over a mile and a quarter on testing ground here Mar. 11 and there was no fluke about that effort. Andre Fabre holds the joint-record of seven wins in this and puts forward the Wertheimers’s Tempel (Fr) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), who scored over nine furlongs at Chantilly in October.
