Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Thursday’s Insights features a son of the high-class sprinter Airwave (GB) (Air Express {Ire}).

3.35 Maisons-Laffitte, Debutantes, €25,000, 3yo, f, 8fT
ALVILDA (War Front) is out of a half-sister to Spectrum’s pair of Classic performers Golan (Ire) and Tartan Bearer (Ire) who was snapped up by Godolphin for $500,000 at Keeneland September 2017. Andre Fabre introduces her against the Wertheimers’ Palomba (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), a Carlos Laffon-Parias-trained relative of the G1 Melbourne Cup hero Americain (Dynaformer).
4.10 Maisons-Laffitte, Debutantes, €25,000, 3yo, c/g, 8fT
PROTEGE (IRE) (Galileo {Ire}) is a notable newcomer for the Tabor-Smith-Magnier combination and Andre Fabre as a son of the high-class sprinter Airwave (GB) (Air Express {Ire}). Getting going late for this family, the bay is closely related to Churchill (Ire) and Clemmie (Ire) who made their marks when winning Group 1s as juveniles.
