Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 19, 2019 Journalists Share Posted May 19, 2019 Naas’s Royal Ascot Trials Day was staged on ground similar to that which usually prevails in Berkshire next month and ‘TDN Rising Star’ So Perfect (Scat Daddy) relished conditions to take the G3 Goffs Lacken S. in the style of an emerging sprinting force. Third trying seven furlongs in the G3 Fred Darling S. at Newbury on Apr. 13, the 9-10 favourite was always in her comfort zone here tracking the pace and when sent about her business by Ryan Moore grabbed the lead a furlong from home before staying on strongly for a 2 1/4-length success from the outsider Gustavus Weston (Ire) (Equiano {Fr}). “She’s always been a fast, powerful filly and she has two options at Royal Ascot–either to take on the older horses over five in the [June 18 G1 King’s Stand S.] or stay at six against the 3-year-olds [in the June 21 G1 Commonwealth Cup],” Aidan O’Brien commented. Runner-up in the G1 Phoenix S. at The Curragh in August and third in the G1 Cheveley Park S. at Newmarket the following month, So Perfect was also responsible for inflicting a rare defeat on Skitter Scatter (Scat Daddy) in the G3 Grangecon Stud S. at the former venue in July. A full-sister to the useful Japanese performer Scat Eddie, she is out of a half to the GII Illinois Derby and GIII Gotham S.-winning sire Cowtown Cat (Distorted Humor). The dam Hopeoverexperience (Songandaprayer) also has the 2-year-old colt Obstructed View (Into Mischief) who was unsold at $325,000 at Keeneland September and a foal also by Into Mischief.
