Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 14, 2019 Journalists Share Posted June 14, 2019 Recently retired nine-time Irish champion jockey Pat Smullen will be the racing ambassador for this year’s Longines Irish Champions Weekend. Irish Champions Weekend, set for Sept. 14 and 15 at Leopardstown and The Curragh, will this year for the first time include a number of fundraising activities and events with all proceeds going towards the fight against pancreatic cancer, which Smullen was diagnosed with last March. “I was made acutely aware of the great work that is being done in the area of pancreatic cancer research and my objective is to return to my carers three things: awareness, funds and gratitude,” Smullen said. “Being involved with the greatest show in town is exciting for me and I appreciate the support of the Longines Irish Champions Weekend committee, Leopardstown and The Curragh in my efforts.” The post Smullen Named Irish Champions Weekend Ambassador appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
