The manner in which Japan (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) took Friday’s G2 King Edward VII S. suggests he could end up Ballydoyle’s number one middle-distance colt at the end of the season. Trading as the 6-4 favourite, the G1 Epsom Derby third was held up with only Bangkok (Ire) (Australia {GB}) behind early and when unleashed wide in the straight surged to the front passing two out en route to a highly impressive 4 1/2-length success from that rival.
