FORTIN HILL (c, 3, Mucho Macho Man–Dusty Rose, by Cherokee Run) dominated in his debut at Belmont last fall on his way to obtaining ‘TDN Rising Star’-dom .The $575,000 OBSMAR buy was sidelined after that dazzling effort and returned here as the heavy 2-5 favorite in this off-the-turf event. He was slow out of the gate and trailed the three-horse field through fractions of :23.47 and :46.19. Fanned wide around the turn, the bay grinded down the middle of the stretch, pulling clear of Morning Breez (Morning Line) by 2 1/4 lengths in the final sixteenth. The victor hails from the family of Canadian Horse of the Year and GI Breeders’ Cup Turf champion Chief Bearhart (Chief’s Crown). Sales history: $12,000 Ylg ’17 KEEJAN; $170,000 Ylg ’17 KEESEP; $575,000 2yo ’18 OBSMAR. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $86,350. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
