Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 22, 2019 Journalists Share Posted June 22, 2019 FIERCE LADY (f, 2, Competitive Edge–Anjorie, by A. P Jet), given a 9-2 chance facing fellow New York-bred maiden fillies Saturday at Belmont, became the third winner for her freshman sire (Super Saver) and a ‘TDN Rising Star’ to boot after blitzing her foes in head-turning fashion. Fastest away from her rail draw, the dark bay was scrubbed on to maintain the edge over favored fellow firster Violent Point (Violence) through a sharp opening quarter of :21.82. Looking like a lock when she headed for home with a clear advantage, Fierce Lady was never fully asked by Javier Castellano as she streaked home six lengths to the good and stopped the clock in :56.47. Munnings Muse (Munnings) was a clear-cut second, while Violence Point held on for third. A $52,000 KEEJAN short yearling, Fierce Lady was acquired by her trainer Dermot Magner for $75,000 at last year’s Keeneland September sale. She RNA’d for $170,000 at OBS March after breezing an eighth in :10 flat. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0. O-Nice Guys Stables & Steve Hornstock. B-Sugar Maple Farm (NY). T-Dermot Magner.
