Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 28, 2019 Journalists Share Posted June 28, 2019 Glen Hill Farm’s fleet-footed Caribou Club (City Zip) will aspire to rebound from a well-beaten effort in Dubai in Saturday’s GI Highlander S. at Woodbine. Prior to his 13th-place finish in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint S. Mar. 30, the Tom Proctor protege had reached the winner’s circle in four of his last eight starts, including a game tally here in last year’s GII Connaught Cup. The 5-year-old was extremely impressive in his 2019 debut, scorching 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:11.66 en route to a 105 Beyer Speed Figure earning score in the GIII Joe Hernandez S. at Santa Anita Jan. 1. He is the 7-5 morning-line favorite. Wet Your Whistle (Stroll) rides a three-race win streak after a head-turning performance while making his stakes debut in the May 19 Get Serious S. at Monmouth. The David Palmer-owned gelding fired a bullet half-mile in :47 2/5 (1/22) June 22 at the Fair Hill Training Center in preparation for his Grade I debut. “He won in good fashion and he was drawing away a little bit at the end, which is something you’d really like to see in those races and he did it,” trainer Mike Trombetta said to the Woodbine notes team. “He’s training very well. His first two races back this season have been so good that we figured we’ll take a shot here.” Local horse El Tormenta (Stormy Atlantic) heads the Woodbine-based runners in this field of nine. The Sam-Son Farm homebred notched the biggest win of his career when he narrowly prevailed in the GII Connaught Cup S. June 1 over this course.
