Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 11, 2019 Journalists Share Posted July 11, 2019 The inaugural £200,000 Bahrain International Trophy, run at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club on Nov. 22, 2019, was announced by the Bahrain Horse Racing Authority on Thursday. The 1 1/4-mile event will take place over a two-turn right-handed turf course and feature a three-furlong home straight. Free to enter, the winner will receive £100,000 in prizemoney. Open to horses rated 95 or over as of Nov. 12 by their domestic racing authorities, the field is limited to 14 runners. Entries close on Oct. 8, with a supplementary stage 10 days prior to the race. Both travel costs and upkeep costs of the invited horses while they are stabled in Bahrain will be paid for by the Bahrain Horse Racing Authority. “On behalf of the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), I am very much looking forward to hosting leading owners and trainers from around the globe at the inaugural Bahrain International Trophy in November,” said REHC Executive Director Shaikh Salman bin Rashed Al Khalifa. “This first ever international race is an unprecedented event in the history of Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club and is testament to the enthusiasm and vision of both His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, High Committee Chairman of REHC and His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Deputy High Committee Chairman of REHC. “The foundation of the Bahrain International Trophy will begin a new chapter in the history of horse racing in the Kingdom of Bahrain and demonstrates the country’s determination to establish itself as a premier horse racing destination.
