Here are the horses of interest for this weekend running at Fukushima and Hakodate Racecourses: Saturday, July 13, 201911th-FUK, ¥35,020,000 ($325k), Allowance, 3yo/up, 1150mHONEY JADE (m, 5, Harlan’s Holiday–Hard Hat, by Hard Spun) has more than earned her keep on this tough circuit, with four wins and six additional placings from 17 runs for earnings approaching $600K. The New York-bred, a $130K FTKJUL yearling turned $300K FTFMAR breezer, is the half-sister to MSW Itsmyluckycharm (Itsmyluckyday), who was bought back on a bid of $290K at FTK’s HORA sale earlier this week. Second dam Bright Feather (Fappiano) produced GISW Albert the Great (Go For Gin). B-John P Hicks, William D Hart, Dr. Jerry Bilinski & John Murdza (NY) Sunday, July 14, 20197th-FUK, ¥9,550,000 ($89k), Maiden, 3yo, 1200mTPARIS TESORO (f, 3, Declaration of War–Patricias Prospect, by A.P. Indy) has yet to turn in a poor effort in four previous tries, including placings over this course and distance Apr. 6 and June 29. The dark bay, purchased in utero for $60K at KEENOV in 2015, is out of an unraced full-sister to top sire Malibu Moon and a half to MGSP Positively (Distorted Humor) and SP Mutually Benefit (Dynaformer), dam of SW & MGSP Compelled (War Front). A $25K KEENOV weanling, Paris Tesoro fetched €80K as an ARQAUG yearling in 2017. B-A Bayle, C Bigheart, S Gross, et al (KY) 9th-HAK, ¥19,950,000 ($185k), Allowance, 3yo/up, 1200mT SAN JOSE TESORO (c, 3, The Factor–Cabaret Starlet, by Tale of the Cat) graduated at first asking over 1400 grassy meters at Chukyo in March (see below, gate 6), but was down the field in two tries over a mile. Out of a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Arravale (Kris S.), SW Hollywood Hideaway (Zensational) and GSP Hollywood Critic (Blame), San Jose Tesoro, whose 2-year-old Carpe Diem half-sister was purchased by Katsumi Yoshida for $250K at OBSMAR this year, was a $30K KEEJAN short yearling and $100K OBSAPR purchase.
