Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 15, 2019 Journalists Share Posted July 15, 2019 Saratoga’s opening weekend, which began Thursday and concluded Sunday, produced an all-sources handle of $73,441,101, up from the 2018 opening weekend all-sources total of $71,671,188. The 2018 opening weekend was from Friday, July 20 to Monday, July 23. Total paid attendance for opening weekend of the 2019 season was 105,690, nearly matching the 109,395 for the first four days of the 2018 season. “We’d like to thank our fans, horsemen and the community for embracing the earlier-than-usual start to the season. Saratoga has certainly once again demonstrated its widespread popularity,” said NYRA CEO and President Dave O’Rourke. “From the thrill of opening day to welcoming our first guests to the 1863 Club, it has been an exciting four days filled with special events and activities, including a memorable visit from National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Mariano Rivera.
