Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 27, 2019 Journalists Share Posted July 27, 2019 Dennis’ Moment (c, 2, Tiznow–Transplendid, by Elusive Quality) went wire-to-wire in impressive fashion at Ellis Park Saturday afternoon to become a TDN Rising Star for trainer Dale Romans and the Albaugh Family Stables. The well-regarded Dennis’ Moment was given ample support at 5-2 in his career debut going five furlongs at Churchill Downs June 23, but he clipped heels, unseating rider Robbie Albarado and failing to finish the race. Coming into this off a pair of inspiring morning works, including a five-furlong bullet move in :59.00 at Churchill July 15, Dennis’ Moment drew the outside post this time, and was still made the 4-5 choice. Hustled to the front straight away, the handsome bay carved out opening fractions of :22.92 and :45.84 as the entry of Cairo King (Cairo Prince) and Elite Class (Will Take Charge) settled in not far behind. Despite his rival’s best efforts, the $400,000 Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling purchase was given his cue entering the home turn, turning on all boosters in a flash and rolled home an eye-catching 19 1/4-length winner over Cairo King. Sounion (Liam’s Map) closed to be third. Final time for the seven-furlong test was 1:21.95. Liftime Record: 2-1-0-0, $30,000. O-Albaugh Family Stables LLC; B-Tolo Thoroughbreds (KY); T-Dale Romans.
