Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 27, 2019 Journalists Share Posted July 27, 2019 Imperial Hint (h, 6, Imperialism–Royal Hint, by Lahint) was sent off at 5-1 to defend his title in Saratoga’s GI Alfred G. Vanderbilt H., but he ran more like an odds-on choice as he rolled to an emphatic 4 1/2-length victory Saturday afternoon. Content to track the dueling pair of 10-1 chance Strike Power (Speightstown) and 1-2 choice Mitole through a hot opening quarter mile in :21.77, Imperial Hint let those two blow off some steam before overtaking them through a half in :44.21. Moving best of all turning for home, Imperial Hint dispensed of the tiring frontrunners, cruising under the wire a 4 1/2-length winner over closer Diamond Oops (Lookin at Lucky), with Mitole rounding out the trifecta. The final time of 1:07.92 for the six-furlongs was a new track record. Lifetime Record: 22-13-2-3, $2,051,655. O-Raymond Mamone; B-Shade Tree Thoroughbreds Inc.
