Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 3, 2019 Journalists Share Posted August 3, 2019 Connections of Enable (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) have revealed that the 5-year-old mare will take in the mile-and-a-half G1 Yorkshire Oaks on Aug. 22 rather than the G1 Juddmonte International over two furlongs shorter the day prior. Enable won the Yorkshire Oaks two years ago at three and it will be her last race on British soil before she attempts a historic third victory in the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Oct. 6. Enable kicked off her season with a win in the G1 Coral-Eclipse over 10 furlongs on July 6 before winning her second G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. three weeks later over 12 furlongs, and Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner/breeder Khalid Abdullah, said the thinking is to keep her over the Arc trip. “We know she is effective over a mile and a quarter, but John didn’t want to bring her back [in trip] again, so we thought the Yorkshire Oaks would be a more suitable race bearing in mind her main objective,” he explained.
