Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 18, 2019 Journalists Share Posted August 18, 2019 Fox Hill Farms’ Omaha Beach (War Front), forced to miss a return to the races in next Sunday’s Shared Belief S. at Del Mar due to illness, will now be aimed at the Sept. 28 GI Awesome Again S. at Santa Anita. “The good news is that his bloodwork looks good, which means that it’s a virus and not infectious,” trainer Richard Mandella said of Omaha Beach. “He and United are in the same boat. They’ll both be back in a week, give or take a few days.” Omaha Beach, last seen winning the GI Arkansas Derby, was the morning-line favorite before being scratched from the GI Kentucky Derby. Stablemate United (Giant’s Causeway) was forced to miss Saturday’s GII Del Mar H. with the same illness. The 4-year-old will now be pointed at the Sept. 28 GII John Henry S. Mandella was also forced to scratch Bombard (War Front) from Sunday’s GII Del Mar Mile with a bruised foot. “No big deal, he’ll get over it,” Mandella said.
