Kingman’s Boomer Lands The Prestige

Occupying 5-2 favouritism for Saturday’s G3 Prestige S. at Goodwood as a result of her impressive win in a seven-furlong Newbury maiden on July 25, Chasemore Farm’s homebred Boomer (GB) (Kingman {GB}) justified the support in snug fashion. Keen early in the hands of Richard Kingscote behind the early pace, the bay had plenty in reserve to take over with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining and hold the challenge of the G3 Sweet Solera S. third Dark Lady (GB) (Dark Angel {Ire}) by a neck, with the Listed Rose Bowl S. winner Shadn (Ire) (No Nay Never) 3/4 of a length away in third.

Owner-breeder Andrew Black said, “I didn’t like her much at the start of the year. I thought she was a bit weak and empty. She has really filled out and is a different horse. She has filled out since Newbury and I love her now. Richard [Kingscote] would not hear of defeat before the race and was not worried about anything. After the race he said it was not easy for him. She lost her action coming round the bend a bit and she didn’t pick up as quick as previously. I think she probably wants a mile now. Now it will be a combination of the [G2] Rockfel [at Newmarket on Sept. 27], the [G2] May Hill [at Doncaster on Sept. 12] and [G1] Fillies’ Mile [at Newmarket on Oct. 11].”

Pedigree Notes

Boomer is out of the smart GII Goldikova S. third Wall of Sound (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}), a half-sister to the G3 John O’Gaunt S. winner and G1 July Cup runner-up The Cheka (Ire) (Xaar {GB}) who also has a yearling colt by Sea the Stars (Ire) in the wings. This is the dynasty of the G1 Haydock Sprint Cup and G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest hero Regal Parade (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) and the G3 Acomb S. winner Entifaadha (GB) (Dansili {GB}), which traces back to Zafonic and Zamindar.
