William and Corinne Heiligbrodt’s Mitole (c, 4, Eskendereya–Indian Miss, by Indian Charlie) charged home an authoritative winner of the GI Forego H. at Saratoga Saturday. The bay colt, favored at 3-2, contested the pace with Promises Fulfilled (Shackleford) through a moderate quarter in :23.05. He surged to the lead after a half in :45.58 and strode home unchallenged, winning his third Grade I by 3 1/2 lengths in stakes record time of 1:20.80. Firenze Fire (Poseidon’s Warrior) closed for second and longshot Killybegs Captain (Mizzen Mast) was third.

During a string of seven straight victories, Mitole won the GIII Count Fleet Sprint H., GI Churchill Downs Sprint and GI Metropolitan H. The streak was ended with a third-place effort in the July 27 GI Alfred G. Vanderbilt H. last time out.

Lifetime Record: 13-9-2-2, $2,044,910. O-William & Corinne Heiligbrodt. B-Edward Cox, Jr (Ky). T-Steven Asmussen.
