Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 30, 2019 Journalists Share Posted August 30, 2019 After having a four-race winning streak snapped when a close third as the 4-5 chalk in the GII Yellow Ribbon H. Aug. 3, claim-to-fame Vasilika (Skipshot) looks to get back on track in Saturday’s GII John C. Mabee S. at Del Mar. Claimed for $40,000 back in February 2018 by Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer, the 5-year-old has turned into a winning machine since, posting top-level wins in last year’s GI Rodeo Drive S. and the GI Gamely S. at Santa Anita this May. The 9-5 morning-line favorite, campaigned in partnership by All Schlaich Stables, Gatto Racing, Todaro, et al, won the John C. Mabee in 2018. Toinette (Scat Daddy), a winner of five of six starts on the infield, kicked off her 4-year-old campaign with a win in a $100,000 optional claimer at Del Mar Aug. 7. The dark bay narrowly captured last term’s GIII Edgewood S. at Churchill Downs over the talented Rushing Fall (More Than Ready) and added the GIII Autumn Miss S. in late October at Santa Anita. Juliet Foxtrot (GB) (Dansili {GB}) has been perfect in three attempts on these shores with Lasix added for trainer Brad Cox, led by a win in the GIII Modesty H. at Arlington Park July 13. The Juddmonte homebred won one of eight previous starts for Charles Hills while racing overseas.
