Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 30, 2019 Journalists Share Posted August 30, 2019 As Hurricane Dorian looms, Gulfstream Park has cancelled live racing for Sunday, Sept. 1, and Monday, Sept. 2. Live racing will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, but the entire facility, including The Casino at Gulfstream and The Village at Gulfstream Park, will be closed effective midnight Aug. 31 as the hurricane approaches the east coast of Florida. “The health and welfare of our employees, our equine athletes and our customers are always our priorities,” said Gulfstream’s Vice President Bill Badgett. “We are closely monitoring the storm and are in constant contact with our horsemen in Florida.” Horsemen stabled at Gulfstream and at Palm Meadows in Palm Beach County have been told they may stable at either facility, depending on the path the storm takes. If needed, Gulfstream will be used as a staging area for Florida Power & Light, Hallandale Beach Police and the City of Sunny Isles Police.
