Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 30, 2019 Journalists Share Posted August 30, 2019 New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program has been granted $30,000 from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) as part of a national competition for equine rescues and sanctuaries. The annual “Help a Horse Home Challenge” is designed to increase equine adoptions nationwide. More than 170 groups across the nation competed from Apr. 26 to June 30, with New Vocations earning $25,000 by placing first in “Division D.” Winners were scored based on their increase of adoptions from the year prior, along with their promotional content and social media campaigns. New Vocations also earned another $5,000 by winning a “Hoofy Award,” which recognizes effective use of social media throughout the competition. “Our whole team embraced the challenge, which resulted in a great increase in adoptions,” said New Vocations Thoroughbred Program Director Anna Ford. “We are very thankful for the grant prize from the ASPCA. They have been long-time supporters of our mission and have been instrumental in helping us expand our efforts and ultimately help more horses.” New Vocations has facilities in Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. It has placed over 6,600 individual horses since 1992.
