Following Tuesday’s latest supplementation stage, Sheikh Hamdan’s Group 2 winner Elarqam (GB) (Frankel {GB}) for Mark Johnston has been supplemented in the G1 QIPCO Irish Champion S. slated for Sept. 14 at Leopardstown. With the second Shadwell entry besides MGSW and G1 Investec Derby second Madhmoon (Ire) (Dawn Approach {Ire}) for Kevin Prendergast, this brings the possible starters to 11. Elarqam most recently ran third in the G1 Juddmonte International S. at York on Aug. 21.

Seven-time winner Aidan O’Brien sends out six, of which G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup heroine Magical (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) appears his chief contender for this year’s renewal after the Ballydoyle handler withdrew Japan (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), who now looks set to head straight to the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp on Oct. 6. She was second to Enable (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) in the Aug. 22 Yorkshire Oaks last out.

Roger Charlton’s Headman (GB) (Kingman {GB}), who has captured successive French Group 2s in the Juddmonte pink and green, the Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud on Jun 30 and the Aug. 15 Prix Guillaume d’Ornano, and G1 Nassau S. victress Deirdre (Jpn) (Harbinger {GB}) are other runners of note in the Longines Irish Champions Weekend showpiece.
