Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 10, 2018 Journalists Share Posted May 10, 2018 La Providencia’s Hi Happy (Arg) (Pure Prize) captured a quartet of Group 1 races en route to Horse of the Year honors in his native land in 2015, and he’ll look to break through at the top level in America for the first time against nine rivals in Saturday’s GI Man O’ War S. at Belmont. Victor of the G1 Dos Mil Guineas, G1 Jockey Club, G1 Nacional and G1 Carlos Pellegrini as a sophomore, the bay went winless in his first five Stateside starts, including a fourth-place run in the GI Santa Anita H. and a third in the GI Gulfstream Park Turf S. Dropping slightly in class last out in the GII Pan American S. Mar. 31 at Gulfstream, the homebred responded with a convincing 2 3/4-length tally. He’ll look to utilize his tactical speed again while cutting back a furlong in the 1 3/8-mile test. Woodslane Farm’s Sadler’s Joy (Kitten’s Joy) established himself in the turf stayer space with an upset tally in the GI Sword Dancer S. last summer at Saratoga before running fourth in his last two starts of the year. Kicking off his 5-year-old campaign with a last-to-first score in the GII Mac Diarmida S. Mar. 3 at Gulfstream, the homebred couldn’t catch Hi Happy when fourth again in the Pan American. Al Shahania Stud’s Money Multiplier (Lookin At Lucky) seeks his elusive first Grade I win after returning from an ambitious trip to Qatar. Purchased from Klaravich Stables and William Lawrence last fall, he was third in the G1 HH The Emir’s Trophy Feb. 24 in Doha and returns to the care of trainer Chad Brown here. The dark bay was second in the 2016 Man O’ War behind barnmate Wake Forest (Ger) (Sir Percy {GB}), who re-opposes here. Brown also sends out Klaravich and Lawrence’s Call Provision (Lemon Drop Kid).
