Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 5, 2019 Journalists Share Posted October 5, 2019 Maxfield (c, 2, Street Sense–Velvety, by Bernardini), a smart come-from-behind winner after breaking slowly first out going a mile at Churchill Downs Sept. 14, turned in a sparkling performance to remain unbeaten in Saturday’s GI Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland. Off at odds of 6-1, he trailed the field early beneath Jose Ortiz. The Godolphin homebred began to advance entering the far turn, produced an eye-catching sweeping move around the bend and turned on the afterburners from there to score by 5 1/2 lengths. ‘TDN Rising Star’ Gouverneur Morris (Constitution) was second; Enforceable (Tapit) was third. The final time for 1 1/16 miles was 1:44.21. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0. O/B-Godolphin; T-Brendan Walsh.
