Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 6, 2019 Journalists Share Posted October 6, 2019 Omaha Beach (c, 3, War Front–Charming, Seeking the Gold), scratched from the GI Kentucky Derby with an entrapped epiglottis and sidelined since undergoing throat surgery this spring, returned from the bench in style with a performance to remember in Saturday’s GI Santa Anita Sprint Championship. The 5-2 chance was a close third while riding the rail through sharp fractions of :21.87 and :44.38 established by heavy favorite Shancelot (Shanghai Bobby). Traveling nicely at the top of the stretch beneath Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Omaha Beach shot through an inviting opening along the inside in the lane and gamely nosed out Shancelot on the wire while stopping the timer in 1:08.79. Flagstaff (Speightstown) was third. Omaha Beach was last seen capturing the GI Arkansas Derby Apr. 13. Sales history: $625,000 RNA yrl ’17 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 8-4-3-1. O-Fox Hill Farms Inc; B-Charming Syndicate (Ky); T-Richard Mandella. The post Omaha!
