The stud fee of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin will remain at $175,000 LFSN in 2020, Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms announced Sunday night.

“Curlin has enjoyed a phenomenal year on the racetrack and in the sales ring. His progeny earnings this year are over $10 million, ranking him fourth on the General Sire list,” said Hill ‘n’ Dale President John Sikura. “In addition to selling the sale-topping colt at Keeneland September for $4.1 million, his yearling average of $607,000 makes Curlin the most successful commercial sire in North America. His book will not exceed 140 mares and we expect he will once again attract a phenomenal group of mares.

Sikura continued, “I thank Barbara Banke for her support of mares and allowing his stud fee to remain unchanged at $175,000 when his accomplishments could have justified a raise. Allowing breeders to be profitable is essential and engenders loyalty to the Hill ‘n’ Dale stallions. I have always tried to provide fellow breeders with the best value possible.”

Among Curlin’s 2019 graded stakes winners are Grade I winner Vino Rosso, Point of Honor, Gladiator King, Lady Apple, Campaign, Electric Forest, Global Campaign, Tenfold, Mylady Curlin, and Curlin’s Voyage.

In the sales ring, Curlin was represented by eight seven-figure yearlings this summer. He had a pair of juveniles sell for over a million dollars this spring, including the $3.65-million sales topper at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale in March.
