Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 10, 2019 Journalists Share Posted October 10, 2019 Soon-to-be-retired reinsman Fergus Sweeney will become a steward for the British Horseracing Authority after he retires next month, the BHA announced on Thursday. The Group 1-winning jockey will undergo an extensive training programme in December after he relinquishes his jockey’s license. “It’s great news that Fergus will by joining our Stewarding team at what is an exciting time,” said BHA Chief Regulatory Officer Brant Dunshea. “I’m sure his years of experience of riding at the highest level around the world will be an invaluable addition to the stewards room.” Added Sweeney, “I’m excited to be starting a new career as a steward when I retire in November.
