Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 13, 2019 Journalists Share Posted October 13, 2019 1st-Belmont, $72,750, Msw, 10-13, 3yo/up, f/m, 6f, 1:09.27, ft.BRIDLEWOOD CAT (f, 3, Street Sense–Ithinkisawapudycat {SP}, by Bluegrass Cat) went off at 2-1 going a tick above a mile at Tampa Mar. 29 and faltered late to finish a distant fifth after showing the way early. Getting blinkers ‘off’ and Johnny Velazquez ‘on’ for this cut back in trip, the half-sister to GI Spinaway S. heroine Sweet Loretta (Tapit, $386,520) shot to the lead straight off the blocks. Comfortably in front of favored Rapido Gatta (Adios Charlie) through a half in :22.69, the 3-1 second choice was running easily leaving the quarter pole and appeared to have more in the tank. Given her cue in the lane, the bay was given a flick of the whip in early stretch and only needed hand riding through the wire, winning by 11 1/4 lengths over Rapido Gatta. First Command (War Front) was third. A half-sister to Canadian champion juvenile filly and GI Alcibiades S. scorer Spring in the Air (Spring at Last), Ithinkisawapudycat has an unraced 2-year-old colt by Constitution and a yearling colt by War Front. After foaling a colt by Tapit earlier this term, she was bred back to Uncle Mo. Sales history: $750,000 Ylg ’17 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $41,500.
