Happy Sunrise
It was a big win by Chase Auckland yesterday that has put him firmly back in the frame for the NZ Cup. It showed he can do work and and still win. He started pretty well from the stand but I wonder if connections should make him unruly from stands so come Cup time he will start with clear air around him. Yesterday he was pretty much on his own with not a whole heap of horses boxing him in, hence the clean getaway. Would you sacrifice a few metres at the start to make sure he begins? Yes, it was a good win Happy. I don't agree that the horse should be unruly. I think that would be a stupid move and give the horse no chance of winning the Cup. Starting unruly means the horse is giving 10-20m to his rivals, more if there is another P. Lamb starting fiasco like last year. I thought the best run of the race was The Fixer who ran home well after being given as easy run as it was his first start for the season. I think he can make it two cups in a row.
