Here are the horses of interest for Saturday’s programs at Kyoto and Tokyo Racecourses, featuring the exciting Mont Perdu (Cairo Prince). Runners entered for Sunday and Monday will appear in Saturday’s TDN: Saturday, October 19, 20194th-KYO, ¥13,400,000 ($123k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1400m GLASS COCKPIT (c, 2, Congrats–Million Gift {Jpn}, by Sunday Silence), a half-brother to SW Million Seller (A.P. Indy), is out of a daughter of dual Grade I winner Maplejinsky (Nijinsky II), whose produce include nine-time GISW and Eclipse Award winner Sky Beauty (Blushing Groom {Fr}) and the dams of MGISW Tale of Ekati (Tale of the Cat) and his GSW full-brother Tale of Silence; GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff upsetter Pleasant Home (Pleasant Tap); and MSW and recent Floral Park S. runner-up Goldwood (Medaglia d’Oro). Glass Cockpit’s third dam was champion Gold Beauty (Mr. Prospector), dam of European champion, MG1SW & unlucky GI Breeders’ Cup Sprint runner-up Dayjur (Danzig). B-Dr Masatake Iida (KY) 4th-TOK, ¥13,400,000 ($123k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1600m AMERICAN FACE (c, 2, Tapit-Screen Goddess, by Giant’s Causeway), a $450K Keeneland September yearling purchase, is out of a winning half-sister to this breeder’s GI Matriarch S. winner Star Billing (Dynaformer). The colt’s MGSP third dam To The Hunt (Relaunch) produced Krikorian’s MGISW Starrer (Dynaformer) and MGISW Stellar Jayne (Wild Rush), third to Ashado (Saint Ballado) in the 2004 GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff. B-George Krikorian (KY) 11th-KYO, ¥41,800,000 ($385k), Hcp., 3yo/up, 1200m MONT PERDU (f, 3, Cairo Prince–Spanish Post, by Flatter) has done very little wrong in her career, with four victories and a third-place effort from her six trips to the post, including a track record-setting performer at Chukyo in July over 1200m (video, gate 9) and a facile score going five furlongs at Kokura Aug. 17 (see below, gate 2). One of two females in this heat and the lone 3-year-old of either sex, Mont Perdu has been assigned a feathery 112 pounds and is in receipt of 15 pounds from the top-weights under handicap conditions. A $115K graduate of the 2017 Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Sale, she fetched $325K at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Florida sale.
