Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 24, 2019 Journalists Share Posted October 24, 2019 A filly by Bated Breath (GB) (lot 416) took top billing during the third and penultimate session of the Arqana October Yearling Sale in Deauville on Thursday when picked up by Tunisian agent Zied Romdhane for €72,000. The filly, consigned by Haras du Long Champ, is out of a half-sister to three-time group winner Finsbury Square (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}). Ziad revealed that the filly would go into training in Deauville with Le Dren Doleuze. “I’ve bought her for a Lybian owner who has just won in Dubai and this fact motivated him to invest immediately,” Ziad said. “She’s a beautiful filly and we like her sire.” Darley first-season sire Territories (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) has had a strong season and that continued on Thursday when a pair of fillies fetched €60,000 and €54,000. Paul Basquin of Saubouas Bloodstock picked up the former, lot 495, a granddaughter of the G2 Rockfel S. winner Cairns (UAE) (Cadeaux Genereux {GB}), and said, “She is beautiful, and by a sire that seems to produce well. She looks racy and mature. She’ll go back to the stud before we decide her future.” Chauvigny Global Equine, which has been busy at this fall’s yearling sales under the eye of Sebastian Desmontils, signed for lot 389 at €54,000. She is out of the stakes-placed Alkhana (Ire) (Dalakhani {Ire}). A total of 114 yearlings were sold on the day at a clearance rate of 71.7%, adding €2,315,000 to the sale’s total pot, which now stands at €16,580,000 for 354 sold. The cumulative clearance rate of 73.8% is down slightly from the same point last year, while the average has climbed a tick to €46,836. The median has dropped 9.1% to €30,000.
