BULLFINCH (GB) (Kodiac {GB}) is a son of the G1 Pretty Polly S. winner Thistle Bird (GB) (Selkirk) who debuts for the Rothschilds and the Roger Charlton stable who combined with that talented mare. He meets Lael Stable’s fellow newcomer Cold Front (GB) (Lope de Vega {Ire}), a William Haggas-trained colt from the family of One Master (GB) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}).

2.25 Doncaster, Mdn, £5,300, 2yo, f, 8fT
APPROXIMATE (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) is a daughter of the G1 Gold Cup heroine Estimate (Ire) (Monsun {Ger}) who starts out for the Michael Bell stable. Sure to appreciate further in time, The Queen’s homebred encounters Hussain Alabbas Lootah’s Lady G (Ire) (Golden Horn {GB}), a William Haggas-trained half-sister to the talented Raise You (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}).

6.00 Newcastle, Novice, £5,300, 2yo, f, 7f 14y (AWT)
MARIA ROSA (War Front) was the top-priced filly of last year’s Keeneland September Sale when selling to Godolphin for $1.75-million and she makes her debut for the John Gosden stable at the track at which he likes to run some of his more talented juveniles. The half-sister to the 2016 Kentucky Derby hero Nyquist (Uncle Mo) encounters another unraced filly of note in Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Fooraat (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), a Roger Varian-trained full-sister to the high-class Benbatl (GB) out of the G1 Prix de l’Opera and GI Flower Bowl heroine Nahrain (GB) (Selkirk).
