South Bend remained a perfect three-for-three with a victory in Sunday’s Street Sense S. at Churchill Downs. Sharp at the start, favored South Bend settled in a rail-skimming fourth as Silver Prospector–with Carpe Victoriam (Carpe Diam) alongside–carved out a quarter in :22.37. As American Butterfly (American Pharoah) challenged for the lead on the outside, taking control heading into the home turn, South Bend was forced momentarily to bide his time and wait for a seam to open up. As soon as he saw daylight in the stretch, South Bend dove through and drew clear to win by a length over Fighting Seabee. Silver Prospector rounded out the trifecta. Sandra’s Rose, who is also responsible for a yearling by Into Mischief, was bred back to Distorted Humor.
