Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 1, 2019 Journalists Share Posted November 1, 2019 Sent off the 2-1 second choice making her stakes debut in Friday’s $150,000 Tempted S. on opening day at Aqueduct, Courtlandt Farms’ MAEDEAN (f, 2, Tapit-Summer Solo, by Arch) kicked away from favored Power Move (More Than Ready) with a furlong to race and scampered home to score by the better part of six lengths. Settled in fourth position and covering Power Move as they worked their way down the backstretch, Maedean was flushed out a bit when Power Move got first run at the three-eighths pole. But Maedean never let that one out of her grasp, racing heads apart into the final furlong before streaking home to a convincing victory. The $450,000 Keeneland September purchase covered the mile in a solid 1:36.75. The 128th black-type winner for Tapit, Maedean is out of Summer Solo, third in the 2014 GI Belmont Oaks Invitational S. and a daughter of SW Summer Solstice (Ire) (Caerleon). Multiple G1SW Act One (GB) (In the Wings {GB}) appears under her third dam. Summer Solo is the dam of a yearling colt by Medaglia d’Oro, a colt foal by Candy Ride (Arg) and was most recently bred to Curlin. Lifetime Record: 3-2-0-0. O-Courtlandt Farms; B-Payson Stud Inc (KY); T-Mark Hennig.
