Leading the fray is Colt’s Neck Stables’ Meru (Sky Mesa), who earned ‘TDN Rising Star‘ status when airing by 6 1/4 lengths in a five-furlong test at Monmouth July 13 before adding another to the win column at the Oceanport oval in the Sept. 21 Smoke Glacken S. over six furlongs. Javier Castellano gets the assignment for Meru’s graded-stakes debut. Shadwell’s Ashaar (Into Mischief) kicked off his career with a geared-down 2 1/2-length win going seven furlongs at Belmont Oct. 12 and enters here off a sharp five-furlong work in 1:00.82 at the Elmont oval Oct. 26. Also a debut winner, Courtlandt Farms’ Americanus (War Front) came from just off the pace at 7-1 to take a six-furlong maiden Sept. 28 and his form suggests the extra yardage will be appreciated. Todd Pletcher is represented by St. Elias Stables’ Chase Tracker (Verrazano), a 3 1/4-length winner while negotiating seven furlongs in his debut at Parx Sept. 21. Irad Ortiz Jr., aboard last time, gets back aboard here.
