Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 2, 2019 Journalists Share Posted November 2, 2019 BELVOIR BAY (GB) (m, 6, Equiano {Fr}–Path of Peace {GB}, by Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}) took the field from gate-to-wire in the GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, besting the boys in a double-digit upset. Zipping straight to the front from post 12, the 14-1 shot dictated terms through an opening quarter in :21.47 with a trio of rivals breathing down her neck. Showing the way into the lane, the bay skipped clear of her foes to win in a new course record time of :54.83. Om (Munnings) nosed out Shekky Shebaz (Cape Blanco {Ire}) for second in a tight photo for a Peter Miller-trained exacta. It was the third straight win in this event for Miller, who saddled champion Stormy Liberal (Stormy Atlantic) to victories in the last two renewals. Belvoir Bay is scheduled to sell at Fasig-Tipton’s Night of the Stars Tuesday in Lexington. Kicking off this term with a win in the off-the-turf Las Ciengas S. Jan. 12, Belvoir Bay followed suit with a win in the grassy Wishing Well S. Feb. 16 and was a respectable second behind Godolphin’s Blue Point (Ire) (Sharmadal) in the G1 Al Quoz Sprint Mar. 30 with stablemate Stormy Liberal in third. Second again in the GIII Monrovia S. which came off the turf May 26, the 6-year-old was fourth in Belmont’s GI Jaipur S. June 8. Lifetime Record: 28-12-6-2. O-Gary Barber; B-Mrs. R.D.
