Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 2, 2019 Journalists Share Posted November 2, 2019 MITOLE (c, 4, Eskendereya–Indian Miss, by Indian Charlie) locked up a year-end championship with an impressive score in the GI Breeders’ Cup Sprint. Breaking sharply, the 9-5 shot was out-footed by the ultra-sharp favorite Shancelot (Shanghai Bobby), tracking from a two-wide fourth through a blazing first quarter in :21.47 and a half in :44.04. Ranging up menacingly at the top of the lane, the bay charged on by the determined Shancelot in the final sixteenth to win by a length in 1:09 flat. Shancelot held second over a rallying Whitmore (Pleasantly Perfect). Mitole has now won six of his seven starts this year. Earning his first top-level success in the GI Churchill Downs S. May 4, he captured a loaded renewal of the GI Met Mile June 8. Third to Imperial Hint (Imperialism) in Saratoga’s GI Alfred G. Vanderbilt H. July 27, the $140,000 OBSAPR buy returned to winning ways with a decisive victory in that venue’s GI Forego S. Aug. 24. Lifetime Record: 14-10-2-2. O-William & Corinne Heiligbrodt; B-Edward Cox, Jr. (KY); T-Steve Asmussen.
