Thomass
So these big boys have now got a BIG toy for the BOYS... a 'Going Stick'....better than a PENETROMETER in that it gives us a Shear 'sideways' reading as well... ...mimicking the action of a Thoroughbred So... highly technical...these instruments can be synced into the Digital World...and to Joe Punter' s arms...at the touch up of a wee button... LETS DO THIS possums... Flick the switch and give us ALL the readings you've taken for each meeting So PUNTERS...who keep you alive....can stop the finger in the air guessing...wrt the... BEST going...and across the width of the straight thanks in advance

Guest CrossCodes
Ellerslie need to employ someone who actually looks after the punters, Deejay Mac should have never been cleared to start in the first today after its antics before the start. No way this well supported runner would have been cleared in Australia, as they actually give a damn about the punters, not here, unless they are clearly lame they just get sent around and punters do their dough before the race is run. Thomass
It goes like this... WILLO got the starting gate guys...he thanked them...profusely... ...to drive him around the course...stopping at KPI's along the way... ...which gave him an entire synopsis of wtf the best ground was... ...drawing so wide...he knew he needed to be down on the rail...that being the quicker If ALL stakeholders had known this...WILLO wouldn't have had to thank everyone and send us all to sleep... savvy? My submissions to the Breeders Cup Committee came to a massive head... This Year they've supplied ALL Going Stick readings there as a guide for Punters/Stakeholders.. In simple terms...it's about TRANSPARENCY...instead of dear old Allpress getting out on the track with her walking stick and keeping the info to herself ...add to that list WILLO.... The entire racing community gets to see the exact readings...and where the taps have been leaking and not leaking... How good is that?
mardigras
Willo doesn't use a penetrometer or a going stick. He has the readings but prefers his foot and even an umbrella. Can you get them to start providing the umbrella readings around the track also.

Read and clap Breeders’ Cup breakthrough for turf going assessment stick Press Release | OCTOBER 29, 2019 | 1 Comment SHARE The addition of the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita “further endorses the GoingStick as an international standard for the assessment of turf courses.” Photo: Emily Shields TurfTrax GoingStick readings will be available for Breeders’ Cup turf races for the first time this year in an innovative partnership with the specialist UK data provider. TurfTrax, the Cambridgeshire-based technology company that developed the GoingStick in conjunction with the British racing industry, will provide enhanced information for inclusion in official going reports ahead of the world championships at Santa Anita on Friday and Saturday. TurfTrax Managing Director Mike Maher said, “We are thrilled to be working with the team at Santa Anita and adding the prestigious Breeders’ Cup to the portfolio of major international racing festivals we support. “The global reach of the TurfTrax GoingStick now extends throughout America, Australasia, the South Pacific and Europe, further endorsing the GoingStick as an international standard for the assessment of turf courses.” The process of implementation begins with site mapping when a reference grid will be created, ensuring that data is collected at the same points on the track each time readings are taken. A total of three GoingStick readings are taken in every grid with each reading measuring penetration and shear, the two forces exerted by the horse’s hoof on the racing surface. Soil moisture measurements are also taken in each grid. Detailed data, which can assist with track preparation where necessary, is presented in the form of a map that can be distributed by email and published via weblinks and social media. It is regarded as an important element of the communications strategy employed by major racecourses worldwide.
mardigras
Of course it can be allowed. For what it will be worth to the industry. In NZ, nothing. Elsewhere - next to nothing. Half an hour after these things are used, the information (which likely had no benefit anyway) is wrong. Thomass
Yes but your too stupid to be able to quantify 'wide without cover, unlucky or Course Specialists'... ...so no surprises you wouldnt have a f in clue about how you'll be 'quantifying' this then... Nope. I quantify those things as being unimportant in assessing the ability of a horse. I don't need to know readings of the state of a track. I just need to watch the preceding races to form my own opinion. If the readings were so important, all the jockeys would be heading for the same piece of ground. That's if they all interpret the info the same. As a punter, you have no idea how the jockey is going to interpret the info, so no greater idea as to whether the horse will be better suited than otherwise. And with the information, things like speed maps and positions will go out the door because jockeys will want to do things to suit the 'readings' - like Williams did according to you in the Cup. Love to see the punters speed map of Vow And Declare leading.
