Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 8, 2019 Journalists Share Posted November 8, 2019 Brad Anderson, who recently relocated to Sarasota, Florida, following a career in technology while residing in the Chicago suburb of Libertyville, went all in with his 25,900 points to win on Vino Rosso (Curlin) in the GI Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic and emerged with 145,040 points to best fellow Floridian Bill Chenvert, who finished with 137,750 points. Combined with first-place money of $343,00, Anderson walked away with a total of $488,040. Dick Jerardi, the former turf writer for the Philadelphia Daily News, took the lead into the final race after cashing a cold $2,000 exacta on the GI Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf exacta of Bricks and Mortar (Giant’s Causeway) and United (Giant’s Causeway). “I’m overwhelmed and just speechless without a voice, and to triumph with my wager on Vino Rosso at the end of the day, just brought me to tears,” said Anderson afterward. “You go into a contest like this, against these horse-playing legends, and beating the best of the best, well it makes me shake my head, for a simple horse player like me to win, this is just amazing. “I needed about $140,000 to win the tournament,” Anderson strategized. “I wanted to go to McKinzie (in the Classic), but his odds dropped to 5-2, and I would not have been able to overcome the leader. After strategizing on possible bets I could make to overtake the leaders, I decided on a simple win bet for $25,900 on Vino Rosso and let it go. With all that money on one horse – and I’ve never done that before–and to see Vino Rosso run a race that spectacular was unbelievable.” Click here for complete results of the BCBC.
