Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 26, 2019 Journalists Share Posted November 26, 2019 Martaline (GB) (Linamix {Fr}-Coraline {GB}, by Sadler’s Wells), a dual-purpose sire based at Haras de Montaigu throughout his stud career, has died aged 20. Montaigu’s Sybille Gibson said on Tuesday, “we lost champion Martaline this morning; his heart stopped during his daily outing in his paddock. He will leave a huge void at Haras de Montaigu but his legacy will live on through the champions he has left behind. Thank you, Martaline.” Bred and raced by Khalid Abdullah and trained by Andre Fabre, Martaline was a winner at two and listed-placed at three, but it was as an older horse that he was at his best. He won the G3 Prix d’Hedouville and the G2 Prix Maurice de Nieuil at four and added the listed Prix de Reux at five. His progeny include the G1 Ryanair Chase winner Dynaste (Fr) and dual Grade 1 winner Disko (Fr), and G3 La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte winner Akarlina (Fr) on the flat.
