Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables LLC, Darsan Inc., Bethlehem Stables and David Simon’s A Bit of Both (Paynter) took her sixth race this season in Monday’s $125,000 OBS Filly and Mare Sprint in Ocala; while $300,000 OBSMAR purchase Archidust (Verrazano) annexed the $125,000 OBS Sprint. Both races were restricted to graduates of Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company auctions.

The Jason Servis-trained A Bit of Both enjoyed a four-race winning streak earlier this term, headed by victories in the Game Face S. on the Gulfstream dirt Apr. 20 and the Honey Bee S. over the Monmouth lawn June 15. Third in the grassy Blue Sparkler S. on the Jersey Shore July 14, A Bit of Both entered off a runaway victory in a Parx allowance on dirt Oct. 14.

Making her first attempt on synthetic here, she slugged it out early while racing on the outside, began to edge clear from that one as they straightened for home and wasn’t for catching in the stretch as she streaked away by 3 1/2 lengths. Caramel Martini (Biondetti) and Ms Meshak (Shackleford) were second and third, respectively.

A Bit of Both was a $10,000 OBS October yearling purchase in 2017 and was co-bred in Florida by Darsan and WinStar Farm. The winner’s dam Lizzie K, also represented by a Vancouver (Aus) filly of 2018, was bred to Classic Empire for 2020.

Ivan Rodriguez and Albert and Michelle Crawford’s Archidust, trained by Jorge Navarro, put together back-to-back turf sprint stakes scores in Monmouth’s My Frenchman S. July 14 and Saratoga’s Mahony S. Aug. 7. He got going too late after a slow start to finish fourth as the even-money favorite in the GIII Nevada State Bank Franklin- Simpson S. at Kentucky Downs last time Sept. 12.

The chestnut raced in traffic early while placed within striking distance in this one. Under a ride in fifth entering the far turn, he shot through an inviting opening along the rail at the top of the stretch and outkicked Boldor (Munnings) home to get the money by 1 3/4 lengths. Front Loaded (Kantharos) was third.

Archidust sold for $85,000 as both a Keeneland November weanling and Keeneland September yearling before breezing in :10 flat last March. His dam Chilling Effect had a filly by Not This Time in 2018.
