Hit the Road (More Than Ready) broke his maiden over Sunday’s course and distance when trying the turf for the first time July 29 and, after passing on this track’s Juvenile Turf S. in September, came from last to defeat War Beast (Declaration of War) by 2 1/4 solid lengths in Santa Anita’s Zuma Beach S. Oct. 6. The bay had his fair share of admirers for the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Nov. 1, but he was forced into a wide trip from a bad draw and crossed the line seventh before being disqualified to last. Wertheimer et Frere homebred Kanderel (Candy Ride {Arg}) takes an immediate crack at graded competition, having belied odds of 6-1 to win his maiden by 3 1/4 lengths at Santa Anita Sept. 28. The performance was validated when runner-up Liar Liar (Ire) (Dream Ahead) returned to break his maiden next time out. Apprentice Jorge Velez retains the mount for trainer Richard Mandella aboard the dark bay, who worked a bullet six furlongs in 1:12 3/5 Nov. 23. Albert Park (Street Sense) makes his turf debut for Godolphin and trainer Mike Stidham and has a license to take to the surface. The colt’s dam, Indy Five Hundred (A.P. Indy) won the 2003 GI Garden City Breeders’ Cup H. and has accounted for the group-placed Ecliptic (Kingmambo) and Magny Cours (Medaglia d’Oro). His second dam, the GSW Lyphard’s Delta (Lyphard), produced MGSW turfer Delta Princess (A.P. Indy), the dam of three-time champion Royal Delta (Empire Maker). Albert Park most recently annexed the Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial S. over the Presque Isle Tapeta track Oct. 9. Hariboux (GB) (Havana Gold {Ire}), fifth to Hit the Road in the Zuma Beach, returned to winning ways in his latest, besting Kanderel’s stablemate Goliad (War Front) by a head in a first-level allowance over this track and trip Nov. 14.
