Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 30, 2019 Journalists Share Posted November 30, 2019 Sent off the 2-5 favorite for his return to stakes competition in Saturday’s City of Laurel S., ‘TDN Rising Star’ HONEST MISCHIEF (c, 3, Into Mischief–Honest Lady, by Seattle Slew) had to work for it, but he gutted it out in the end to become the 61st stakes winner for his sire. Perhaps a half-step slow to begin, the homebred raced behind a leading trio for the opening five furlongs and was locked away in need of running room when push came to shove. Trevor McCarthy angled the immaculately bred bay into the four path and into the clear at the furlong marker and he dug down deep to claw back Chilly In Charge (Take Charge Indy) in the shadow of the wire. Hall Pass (Freedom Child) was third. Accorded ‘Rising Star’ status off an eight-length maiden gallop at Keeneland in April, Honest Mischief was sixth as the choice in the GI Woody Stephens S. June 8 and a distant third to Shancelot (Shanghai Bobby) in the GII Amsterdam S. at Saratoga July 28. He returned to winning ways with a four-length tally back at Keeneland Oct. 9. A half-brother to three full stakes winners, including GISW First Defence (Unbridled’s Song), Honest Mischief is kin to the 2-year-old filly Annual (Noble Mission {GB}). Lifetime Record: 6-3-1-1. O/B-Juddmonte Farms (KY); T-Chad Brown.
