Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 30, 2019 Journalists Share Posted November 30, 2019 Tiz The Law (Constitution) was everyone’s idea of a good thing in Saturday’s GII Kentucky Jockey Club S. at Churchill Downs, but things didn’t go exactly according to script for him and SILVER PROSPECTOR (c, 2, Declaration of War–Tap Softly, by Tapit) proved the chief beneficiary, fighting his way to a tough victory. Settled in the latter half of the field early on, the $50,000 Keeneland September yearling turned $190,000 OBS April breezer edged out into the clear down the backstretch as Tiz The Law saved ground behind the pacesetters. With the chalk all dressed up but with nowhere to go on the turn, Silver Prospector was niggled along and was poised to pounce on the leaders four wide on the swing for home. As the grey colt made progress down the center, Tiz The Law was crying out for room and a split came with about a furlong to race. The New York-bred had every conceivable chance if good enough on the day, but he raced greenly a sixteenth of a mile from home and Silver Prospector got home first as 80-1 Finnick the Fierce (Dialed In) outfinished Tiz The Law for second. Silver Prospector, the 25th black-type winner and 14th graded/group winner for his sire, broke his maiden two back at Keeneland Oct. 13 and was on two weeks’ rest when finishing third in the one-mile Street Sense S.
