Here are the horses of interest for this weekend running at Hanshin Racecourse, featuring Lotus Land (Point of Entry) making her Group 1 debut: Saturday, December 7, 20196th-HSN, ¥13,400,000 ($123k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1800m A SHIN AMEN RA (c, 2, American Pharoah–I O Ireland, by Giant’s Causeway) is the second foal from his dam, a stakes-winning daughter of GSW Ioya Two (Lord At War {Arg}), dam of MGSW Ioya Bigtime (Dynaformer), GSW Amazing Results (Grand Slam) and SW Mavericking (Empire Maker). Ioya Two’s half-brother is MGSW & GISP Mystery Giver (Dynaformer). A Shin Amen Ra was a $325K acquisition out of the 2018 Keeneland September Sale. B-Team Block (KY) UNBOUNDED (c, 2, Uncle Mo–Undercover Justice, by Lawyer Ron), a full-brother to GSP Conquest Babayaga, was purchased in utero for $300K at KEENOV in 2016 before repaying that bill when hammering for $400K at KEESEP in 2018. The Feb. 20 foal’s dam is a half-sister to Sovereign Award winner and Grade I-winning juvenile Negligee (Northern Afleet) and SP Wild Notions (Wild Again). B-Bill Justice (KY) Sunday, December 8, 20195th-HSN, ¥13,400,000 ($123k), Newcomers, 1800mT AMERICAN SEED (c, 2, Tapit–Sweet Talker, by Stormin Fever), an $825K KEESEP grad, is the latest produce from his dam, winner of the 2005 GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup before selling to Courtlandt Farm for $1.15m at KEENOV the following month. Sweet Talker is a half-sister to MGSW Silver Reunion (Badge of Silver). A full-brother to SW & GSP Sweet Tapper, American Seed is also kin to GSP Perregaux (Distorted Humor), while the deeper female family includes GISWs Sam’s Sister (Brother Derek) and Check the Label (Canadian Frontier). B-Courtlandt Farm (KY) 11th-HSN, Hanshin Juvenile Fillies S.-G1, ¥123m ($1.13m), 2yo, f, 1600mT LOTUS LAND (f, 2, Point of Entry–Little Miss Muffet, by Scat Daddy) got her career off on a high note, graduating at first asking over course and distance Sept. 21 as the 19-10 favorite (see below, gate 7) and was a latest second going 1400m over heavy Kyoto turf Oct. 12. One of six winners from as many Japanese runners for her sire, Lotus Land is out of a winning half-sister to MSP Emma Darling (Hennessy).
