MAXIMUM SECURITY (c, 3, New Year’s Day–Lil Indy, by Anasheed) completed his eventful 3-year-old campaign on a high note as he trounced his rivals in the GI Cigar Mile H. Saturday at the Big A. The 6-5 favorite dueled with GI Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile hero Spun to Run (Hard Spun) early before putting some five lengths on that foe in the stretch and getting the one-turn mile in 1:36.46. Longshot True Timber (Mineshaft) spiced up the trifecta. The winner, best known for his controversial DQ from first to 17th in the GI Kentucky Derby earlier this year, was last seen taking the seven-furlong GIII Bold Ruler H. at Belmont Oct. 26. Lifetime Record: 9-7-1-0.
